Villanova Wildcats Celebrate World Vegan Month with GO VEGGIE Plant Based Cheese Products

As part of their November focus on plant based menu offerings, Villanova University partnered with Go Veggie Foods to showcase items for students to sample. Using Go Veggie Vegan Cream Cheese, Vegan Mozzarella Shreds and Vegan Grated Parmesan, the team offered up plant based baked ziti in addition to macaroni and cheese. Villanova’s Executive Chef prepared additional roasted vegetable toppings including caramelized brussels sprouts and fried mushroom bits for the macaroni and cheese. The students were also offered a sweet treat with sliced apples and pretzels paired with Go Veggie Vegan Cream Cheese flavored with maple, agave and cinnamon. The plant based pasta dishes served by Go Veggie were well received by the students and helped to generate a genuine excitement for plant based foods.

The appeal and potential for plant based products is expanding beyond the small group of people who consume them for allergen and ethical reasons to include a much larger base of consumers seeking healthier, cleaner and more sustainable foods. Vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians (occasional consumers of animal products), make the opportunity for animal-free products much larger than it initially appears. Students, in particular, pay close attention to what they put into their bodies and how it affects the planet.
